Oris returns "to the water" with a limited edition model of 2,000 pieces created to support the Australian non-profit organization Reef Restoration and its mission to bring Change for the Better. The severe phenomenon of coral bleaching exposes the world’s reefs to great risk. Oris collaborates with the pioneering non-profit Reef Restoration Foundation for the preservation and protection of these vital natural bodies. It is based on the new generation Aquis Date Caliber 400, launched at Watches & Wonders in Geneva in early 2024, but with some additional details designed to capture the foundation’s story. Details include the vibrant blue dial, which depicts, as seen from above, both the turquoise and blue waters of the Great Barrier Reef and the refraction of sunlight through the water. This is one of the few times a watch has been made where the gradient starts from 12 o’clock and continues vertically downward, instead of starting from the center. The watch also features a grey bezel, and the case back bears special engravings, including the limited edition number. The watch is limited to 2,000 pieces. Inside, it houses the Caliber 400, a game-changing in-house automatic movement with a 5-day power reserve, anti-magnetic properties, a recommended service interval of 10 years, and a 10-year official manufacturer’s warranty (with registration on MyOris). The base is the Aquis Date 43.50 mm, a refined modern versatile watch with water resistance of 30 bar (300 meters). The stainless steel case, screw-down crown, crown protection, unidirectional rotating bezel, and three-link bracelet have all been redesigned for improved ergonomics and performance. As with all Aquis Date Caliber 400 models, it also features Oris’s patented bracelet quick-change and fine adjustment system, both designed for ease of use and flexibility. The new watch will directly support the ongoing financial commitment to the foundation’s mission for coral planting.
